How do we administer Deceased Estate?
- We attend to the entire process from reporting of the Estate to the finalisation (which takes between six to nine months).
- After receipt of the Letters of Executorship (or Letters of Authority, depending on the gross value of the Estate), we report to banks and investment institutions for the purpose of realising the assets held by them and providing balances at date of death.
- Advertisement of the estate in the local newspaper or the Gazette is made for creditors to place any claims against the estate.
- After the 30 day notice period has expired and claims of payment or balances received, the Liquidation and Distribution account is drawn up.
- The Liquidation and Distribution account is then lodged at the Master of the High Court and once approved, advertisement of the account is placed in the newspaper and gazette, calling an interested party to inspect the same at the Master’s Office.
- Once proof of advertisement has been furnished, together with any other requirements which the Master may have, then the executor can pay out inheritances and claims by creditors.
- Proof of all payments and registration of any properties will be made to the Master and the Master will issue a filing motion confirming that the estate has been finalised.
- The normal tariff for administration of the deceased’s estate is 3.5% of the gross value of the estate.
At Fyshe Incorporated, we are in a position to attend to the administration of the estate and the transfer of any movable property in the estate.
